How to Access or Register

At Aspire Foundation, we want every family to feel welcome, supported, and able to access help in a way that feels comfortable and convenient. Our Family Support Service is designed to be flexible, approachable, and easy to engage with, whether you are looking for a one‑off conversation, ongoing guidance, or simply a friendly space to talk. There are several ways families can access support across our Children and Family Centres in Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, and you can choose the option that works best for you.

We believe that support should be accessible to everyone. That’s why many of our services are open access, meaning you can attend without a referral or appointment. For families who need more targeted help, we also offer a clear referral route through Gloucestershire’s Early Help system. Whatever your situation, our team is here to guide you through the process and help you find the right support at the right time.

I felt able to be completely open and honest. I was really listened to, and it felt like the Family Support Worker genuinely wanted to help.

1. Drop‑In Sessions (No Booking Needed)

One of the easiest ways to access support is by attending one of our Coffee & Chat Drop‑In Sessions, held monthly at each of our five Children and Family Centres. These sessions are open to all families and do not require booking or registration.

During a drop‑in, you can:

  • Speak directly with a Family Support Worker

  • Ask questions about any aspect of family life

  • Receive advice and signposting

  • Learn about groups, courses, and local services

  • Connect with other parents and carers

Drop‑ins are relaxed, friendly, and designed to make support accessible without any pressure. You can stay for as long or as little as you like, and you’re welcome to bring your children. Many families find that drop‑ins are the perfect first step in accessing Early Help in Gloucestershire.

To find your nearest session, visit our Drop‑In Sessions: Locations & Times page.

2. Parenting Courses

Families can also access support by registering for one of our parenting courses, which run throughout the year at our Children and Family Centres. These courses offer practical advice, peer support, and guidance on a range of topics related to parenting and child development.

Our courses may include:

  • Understanding behaviour

  • Building routines and boundaries

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing

  • Strengthening parent‑child relationships

  • Early child development

  • Preparing for school

Parenting courses are a great way to learn new strategies, share experiences with other parents, and build confidence in a supportive group environment. Some courses require registration, while others may be open access. Families can check centre timetables or speak to a member of the team to find out what’s currently available.

3. Groups and Activities

Many of our groups and activities are open access, meaning families can simply check the timetable and come along. These sessions support children’s development, encourage social interaction, and help parents build connections within their community.

Groups may include:

  • Play sessions for young children

  • Early development groups

  • Workshops on sleep, routines, or behaviour

  • Social groups for parents and carers

  • Sessions led by Community Family Workers

These activities provide opportunities for learning, connection, and fun. They also help families feel part of a supportive community, which can make a big difference to wellbeing and confidence.

Timetables are updated regularly, so we encourage families to check their local centre’s schedule for the latest information.

4. Request for Support (Referral Route)

For families who need more targeted or ongoing support, a Request for Support can be made through Gloucestershire’s central Early Help referral system, known as the front door. This route is available to:

  • Parents

  • Carers

  • Professionals working with families

A Request for Support may be appropriate if:

  • A family is experiencing ongoing challenges

  • A child may benefit from targeted support

  • Multiple services need to work together

  • A family requires coordinated help from different agencies

Once a request is made, the Early Help team will review the information and determine the most appropriate level of support. If Aspire Foundation is the right service to help, we will be contacted and will work with the family to agree next steps.

If you’re unsure whether a referral is needed, our team can talk you through the process and help you decide.

5. Speak to a Member of the Team

Families can always contact their local Children and Family Centre directly for information, advice, or support. Our staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help you understand what services are available and which option might be right for your family.

You can speak to a member of the team if you:

  • Want to know more about our services

  • Are unsure which group or course to attend

  • Need help understanding the referral process

  • Want to discuss a concern privately

  • Would like guidance on next steps

We are here to listen, support, and help you access the right services at the right time.

Which Option Should I Choose?

Every family is different, and there is no “right” way to access support. Some families prefer to start with a drop‑in session, while others feel more comfortable joining a group or speaking directly to a member of staff. If you’re unsure, we recommend:

  • Starting with a drop‑in if you want a quick chat or informal advice

  • Joining a group if you want to meet others and build confidence

  • Registering for a parenting course if you want structured guidance

  • Making a Request for Support if you need more targeted help

Whatever you choose, our team will support you throughout the process.

A Service Designed to Be Accessible

Whether you need a one‑off conversation, ongoing guidance, or simply a welcoming space to talk, Aspire Foundation is here for you. If you’re ready to access support or want to learn more, we encourage you to explore our drop‑ins, groups, and courses - or contact your local centre for a friendly conversation.
